The first to arrive, the first to prepare their meat, the first to start the margaritas and the first to place. Joey and Kassie have been competitively barbequing for years and it shows on Saturdays at the CookOff Awards. While they both work full time managing their Wrecker Company, they spend most weekends if not at the Liberty Hill football games, BBQing.
Joey is a perfectionist, yet never stops trying new recipes to take down Harvey in the next show down. Kassie is becoming quite the solitaire cook as well. Not too long ago her steak couldn't be fully judged because the first taster ended up eating the whole thing! These fanatics also started their own cookoff held in Cedar Park, TX around March of every year, The Cedar Chopper CookOff!
While BBQ CookOffs are fun, there is more to it behind the scenes. The Smiths' take it seriously and are very precise, you would have to to be sponsored by Crown Royal. They even cook for troops deploying as well as returning from Iraq. Imagine feeding 10,000 soldiers... Joey and Kassie jump on the opportunity with open hearts.
